Family Medicine and Osteopathic Manipulation | Dr. Provost
Family medicine (FM), formerly family practice (FP), is a medical specialty devoted to comprehensive health care for people of all ages and includes pediatrics and women’s health. It is a three year primary care residency that includes training in inpatient hospital care and outpatient office care.
Osteopathic manipulative treatment (OMT) is a hands-on care used to diagnose, treat, and prevent illness or injury. An osteopathic physician will move your muscles, joints, fascia, tendons, ligaments, fluids and organs using techniques including stretching, gentle pressure, resistance, balancing, and direct forces. OMT is often used to treat musculoskeletal problems but can help patients with a number of other health problems such as sinus problems, migraines, asthma, constipation, or carpal tunnel.
